Your leadership journey with the Management and Leadership programme will look something like this:
We offer high quality leadership programmes that blend best practice with practical application, all accredited by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) through the University of Huddersfield. Our programmes are aimed at newly promoted and experienced managers, and aspiring leaders of the future.
Who will be delivering the programmes?
Our programmes will be run by leadership development experts from the University of Huddersfield and across the region.
Where will the programmes take place?
The Sir George Buckley Leadership Centre is based at the 3M Buckley Innovation Centre in Huddersfield, however, programmes will be taking place virtually, until further notice.
What financial investment will the programmes require?
The following are the cost per delegate for each programme:
• CMI Level 7 – Certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice – £2,495 + VAT
• CMI Level 5 – Certificate in Management and Leadership – £1,695 + VAT
If you would like to put forward multiple people, contact the Centre for more information.
A special membership offer is also available for Kirklees Top 100 Companies, including a leadership diagnostic and delegate discounts.
How long will the programmes be?
Both the level 5 and level 7 programmes will last 9-12 months.
What will the programmes involve?
All our programmes will be a blend of webinar, online and on-site learning, as permitted. They will involve practical learning, opportunities for enhanced self-assessment, peer group networks and a specific organisation-based leadership project, spread across the programme period.
How much time is involved?
As well as five monthly workshop sessions (virtual during the pandemic), you will be expected to do some reading and research, undertake some pre- and post- module work, and take part in peer group coaching sessions to support your learning and its application.
When will the group sessions be held?
Modules will be held in the daytime during the working week. Self-organised peer groups in between modules will be at times to suit participants.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment will be via a small number of practically based activities which have direct application to your organisation. For example, you might be required to write about the design and implementation of an organisational change or write a mentoring plan for one of your team.
What will I get at the end of the programme?
You will achieve a CMI accredited qualification at level 5 or level 7 with the opportunity to build on this to become a Chartered Manager.
Are there any entry requirements/qualifications needed?
There are no specific entry requirements. Programmes are aimed at new or experienced managers wanting to develop their leadership skills, as well as directors/senior leaders looking to think more strategically and innovatively.
Will I be a student of the University?
Not formally, but you will be able to access the University’s library facilities, as well as Huddersfield Business School events.
